Three Traffic Light Juices That Will Boost Your Health

These are my three ‘go to’ juices for boosting everyday health. I practise what I teach and tend to follow a healthy balanced diet. I say tend because we all need to enjoy life and not be too rigid, that’s my opinion anyway.  Teaching exercise , I do need to ensure that I am putting plenty of the right stuff in and I was finding that getting a good amount of fruit and vegetables, sometimes just didn’t seem possible. So three years ago I invested in a juicer and there started a long term love affair!  A weekly trip to the local green grocers ensures that I have everything I need at a reasonable cost. There are many, many delicious healthy juice combinations, but I thought I would start with sharing my favourite three 

Green

Ingredients:  2 apples,  1 inch of cucumber, 1 celery stick, large handful of spinach,  1 avocado,  4-6 ice cubes.

Put all ingredients through a juicer.  Add juice, flesh of avocado and ice into a blender. Blend until smooth.

This juice provides the following vitamin and mineral s:  A, B1,B2,B6,C, K,  Beta-carotene, folic acid, Calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, iron, chlorine, sodium,

What it’s Good for:  anti cancer (apples), eliminating toxins, cleansing, reducing fluid retention (cucumber & celery) . The spinach is especially great for iron stores.

Adding avocado to this juice, provides all of the 6 of the human nutritional needs: Water, fat, protein, natural sugar, vitamins and minerals. I try and include this juice a couple of times a week for an iron boost, overall health and cleansing.

Orange

Ingredients: 2 apples, 1 large orange, 2 carrots,  2 cm slice of ginger

Put all ingredients through a juicer and poor over ice.

This juice provides the following vitamins and minerals : A, B1,B2,B6,C,D,E,K, Beta Carotene, folic acid, calcium, chlorine, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, iron, zinc, copper, sodium, iodine.

What it’s Good for: Anti cancer, flushing toxins, destroying free radicals (oranges are anti-aging!), eyes & skin (carrots), natural antibiotic & decongestant (Ginger).

I often have this delicious juice with breakfast at the weekends (be careful it is quite sweet) I also add it in when I feel I need a boost of Vitamin C. The ginger being a natural antibiotic and decongestant is great for warding off those nasty colds!

Red

1 apple, 1 pear, 2 carrots, 2 celery sticks,  1/2 medium fresh beetroot.

Put all ingredients through a juicer and poor over ice.

This juice provides the following vitamins and minerals: A, B1, B2, B6, C, D, E, K, Beta Carotene, folic acid, Calcium, chlorine, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, iron, copper, sodium, iodine, chromium.

What  it’s good for: Anti cancer, flushing toxins and liver cleansing, contains levulose which is a fruit sugar more easily digested by people with diabetes (pears). Great for the  iron stores (Beetroot), eyes & skin (carrots) cleansing and reducing fluid retention (Celery).

I have a post cancer condition called Lymphoedema and came across this juice when researching.  I am not a natural beetroot lover, so it took me a while to get used to the taste! Beetroot on its own promotes liver cleansing,  adds iron so good for anaemia, and helps reduce hardening of arteries so it was worth persevering with.

There you have it three great health boosting juices that also happen to taste really good!
