There is something so special and touchy feely about a velvet jacket. Yet its totally attainable and wearable for every one, in a multitude of shapes, colours and of course prices. Last season the bomber jacket was the key shape ( I didn’t go there!), this season we are back to the classic blazer. A shape that is far more flattering and exudes gown up glamour for the festive season ahead.
I say this season, I have had the black velvet jacket (see above!) for I am guessing around 8 years. I would love to say it was an Yves Saint Laurent investment purchase, but no, it was bought in H&M on a very cold visit to Berlin. It was however a considered purchase and has stood the test of time.
A velvet jacket is not just for Christmas! It’s the ultimate in day to night dressing. During the day pair with a t shirt and jeans. At night, endless options: over a sleek pencil skirt, add glam to a dress, pair with bright coloured or metallic trousers. My ultimate choice would be with a silk cami and pair of leather skinnies, for full on texture appeal!
With so many lovely colours available, I must admit I am more than a little tempted for a 2nd in my wardrobe,
