A gorgeous size 18 apple shaped client of mine asked me to put together a classic chick look for date night with her husband. I want to make it clear that I have only mentioned the size in so much as I needed to source clothes available in larger sizes, it was her shape I was looking to style.
The request was for a dress and a £250 budget, A task indeed but one that I relish so off I shopped for her.
The starting point was this dress from East, available up to a size 20. Although very neutral in colour it ticked all the boxes for her shape. The V neck for bigger busts, the length hit her just at the knee so a narrow part of the leg. The big plus point was the shape, it hits at the narrowest part of the body , accentuating a waist, at the same time drew away attention from any lumps and bumps. The fabric skimmed her body and the overall effect was extremely flattering.
Next up was the shoe, I went for a wedge from Kurt Geiger to balance off her top half, these nude wedges without any straps gave extra height but more importantly lengthened the leg.
So far so neutral, so a pop of colour was needed in the form of this bright orange large clutch bag from whistles, A key updater in colour for this season.
Keeping things current, I selected these drop earrings by Azuni to add some interest and to draw the eye up to a very pretty face.
For a final touch of playfulness I added a statement ring from a favourite store of mine Butler & Wilson. Although we also have statement earrings in the mix, the dress is a block colour so it adds further interest rather than looking Christmas tree over done, and actually in my book style rules are made to broken!
Due to client confidentiality I don’t usually blog client wardrobes or shops, so thank you to this lovely lady for actually suggesting it!
PS. we went over budget by £10!
