I love this season’s distressed jean look, but just sometimes you want dare I say it, a more chic ‘grown up’ look. I say ‘ dare I say it’, as I loath articles that dictate how we should dress for our age. Its as though at the strike of 40, 50 or 60 you must change your entire wardrobe to suit a new decade! What I am trying to say is, sometimes you want a slightly smarter, pulled together look hence my term, ‘grown up jeans’.
I own several pairs of distressed jeans. Some of which started out as ordinary jeans but are now so old that they have literally worn out. Jeans; when you find the right pair it’s like putting on an old comfy pair of slippers! I will be devastated when I finally have to throw mine out, wishing once again that I had bought several of the same. Generally, 7 for all mankind are my go to jean, for me they are a perfect fit but come wth a price tag. So I was excited to find these dark vintage ‘boy meets girl’ pair by ME+EM. The cut is slim but relaxed, high waisted, altogether leg lengthening and flattering.
I teamed the jeans with:
Boy shirt in pink crinkle gingham, J. Crew. Pink and gingham picking up on two of this seasons trends, style by rolling the sleeve as shown keeps the look current.
Turquoise lace up sandal, Massimo Dutti. The block heel still current this season not to mention easier to walk in! The bright colour adds a pop to the dark jeans.
Fringe straw basket bag, & Other Stories. This bag epitomises a chic relaxed summer feel. I love that it also has a long leather strap so can also be worn on the shoulder.
