The Grain Barge has been out of the water since Christmas for some ‘practical improvements’. It is my local ‘go to’ bar being a mere 5 minutes walk, when I can’t be bothered to cook and fancy a glass of wine overlooking the Bristol Harbourside. It was also the scene of the crime for the first ‘let’s just meet for a drink’ date with my boyfriend of three and half a years.
So, first week back in the water, we decided to visit the now grey coloured barge, manned by new and keen staff. Thursday night is essentially Steak Night at the bargain price of £10. Not feeling the meat we opted for the reasonably priced fish and guinea fowl. Extremely tasty, but sadly we were both left hungry. So to fill the empty space we requested the ‘bread and butter pudding but disappointingly it had sold out by 8.30 pm! It was the first week back in action, it is my local, it’s always reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and I love the view, so this not so perfect evening won’t deter me.
