On my recent trip to London, I checked out the new kid on the block from the H&M group – Arket!
Arket, brand themselves a ‘Modern Day Market’, offering cool simple products for men, women, children and the home. Their mission is all about sustainability whist offering the customer value for money. Products are well made and durable in designs to be used and loved for a long time. As an added bonus from a hard days shopping the store has a wonderful Scandinavian cafe, offering fresh nordic food, great coffee and respite from the hectic people traffic found on Regent Street on a daily basis.
On first glance the store doesn’t look particularly inspiring, it has a very stark, Muji feel about it. Start delving further and you’ll find really good quality basics that every home and wardrobe needs. Interestingly the store is laid out by colour, useful for the colour inspired, me being one! Venture down to homeware and suddenly you find all those things that you think your kitchen can’t live without. A great find are reasonably priced linen cushions in bright colours.
What I really love is their website! It is so easy to navigate and if you are searching something in a specific colour then you just select from the colour wheel at the top of the page and it brings up everything in that colour! Whats not to love!
My Top picks from Arket:
Straight leg indigo jeans – £55. This season we are moving into darker denim, and its all about the contrast stiching. (I have these on order!) Wear with a simple white T, or add a slouchy knit.
Suede green sling backs – £115. Perfect heel for running around town and great for adding a pop of colour. The suede feels divine!
Oversized cotton shirt – £55 A great shirt for workwear or casual with jeans. Tuck it, tie it, layer it, its just a great wardrobe basic. Love the extra large cuffs.
Black satin top – £59. Have to say the picture has close to zero appeal! On its great, zip pulled down, sleeve pulled up. Instant chic.
Cashmere crew neck – £125. What can I say a winter basic, buy a oversized for a slouchy look, job done!
Checked wool blazer – £135. This seasons must have item! Not a shape that suits me, but join the blazer squad by adding a logan T, jeans and trainers
